By Ben
I just purchased this reel this past weekend and I'm very impressed with it, so far. I haven't had it on the water, yet, but the quality workmanship is obvious and I'm confident that it is a great reel. This reel is not cheap in any sense of the word. It is a pricey reel, to be sure, but the quality is there and this reel was made by Americans.
There are other reels of this caliber in this price class on the market by better known manufacturers. However, this reel has a feature that I'm pretty sure is unique to this brand (I've not seen it elsewhere). They call it drag tracking. What that basically means is that the level-line winding eye moves back and forth as line is spooled out on the drag. This means that wherever the line is on the spool, the eye is right in line with it. Other reels without this technology allow line to spool out with drag with the eye fixed. So, you end up with the eye stationary all the way over to the left or the right while the line is unwinding over the width of the spool. When you have a large fish on and this happens, you risk breaking the line or weakening it with the friction of the line against the eye. It's a really nice feature to have and it's really surprising that other reels don't have this technology.
I will update this review after I've got some fish to brag about. I recommend this reel.
